Dog Sledding Evening
Mush your own husky team on this unique dog sledding evening tour through snowy terrain, surrounded by incredible mountain landscapes and scenic fjords. Our huskies are eager to meet you and take you on a journey through the Arctic night! If you are lucky, you might have the magical Northern Lights dancing on top of you, while being on this winter evening adventure! You do not need any previous skills to mush your own husky team. All you need is reasonable physical health and an eagerness to try something new!
Join us for an authentic experience at our wilderness center Camp Tamok, a 90-minute scenic bus drive away from the city center of Tromsø.
Upon arrival at the camp, we will first provide warm winter clothes and other required gear for your dogsledding activity. Our guides will then give thorough safety instructions and a practical demonstration on how to steer your own sled. Once you are ready, you will embark on your journey: Two people will share each sled and a dog team. One is the “musher” (driver) and the other can sit back and enjoy the ride. (If your group includes children, please kindly note, that each child must be accompanied by an adult.)
You will get the chance to switch places midway during the 10-12 km dog sledding trail. Depending on snow conditions, we will spend up to 1 hour 30 minutes to complete it.
Even though this tour is not focused on hunting the Northern Lights, being outside on a dark winter evening might give a wonderful opportunity to witness the lights while going out on this adventure.
After the tour, you will be served a hot meal in a traditional Northern Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After relaxing and warming up, you can board the bus back to the city and reflect on a memorable adventure!
